MBRC THE OCEAN gGmbH
Charitable mission, cleanup-related activities, education, community engagement and eligible nonprofit projects.
Transparency
We believe environmental action should be understandable, traceable and communicated responsibly. Here we explain how MBRC works, how projects are supported and how impact, materials and partnerships are documented.
Organization & responsibilities
MBRC combines charitable environmental action with commercial products, materials and partnerships. Clear responsibilities matter — especially when support mechanisms, material claims and project outcomes are communicated publicly.
Charitable mission, cleanup-related activities, education, community engagement and eligible nonprofit projects.
Products, materials, commercial partnerships, brand collaborations and other business activities.
Collectors, recyclers, project partners, local organizations and specialist providers depending on the respective program.
Specific responsibilities may vary by program, contractual setup and local implementation. The applicable structure should therefore be assessed in the context of the respective project or partnership.
From commitment to action
There is no single mechanism behind every MBRC partnership. Support can be structured in different ways depending on the product, campaign, commitment and agreed program.
A defined contribution or level of support is agreed for a specified period, project or scope.
Support is linked to a defined product-related trigger or agreed unit-based mechanism.
A specific campaign, activation or communication program defines the applicable support logic.
Support is allocated to agreed cleanup-related activities under a defined program framework.
Custom models combine commitments, activities and reporting according to the partnership.
Core principle
Support mechanisms vary by partnership, product and campaign. The applicable mechanism is defined for each program.
Measurement & documentation
The exact documentation pathway depends on the program. Our general approach is to separate the agreed mechanism, the action itself, the recorded information and the resulting communication.
A mechanism, commitment, scope or calculation basis is agreed.
The relevant cleanup, collection or project activity is carried out.
Relevant project, activity or collection information is recorded.
Results are consolidated and communicated according to the program.
A clear distinction
We distinguish between internally recorded information, partner-provided data, documented project outcomes and independent external verification.
Where external verification applies, it should be identified specifically. Documentation should not be described as independent verification unless it actually is.
Materials transparency
Material communication should be specific. We therefore distinguish material characteristics from cleanup support, project commitments and impact outcomes.

A mechanically recycled plastic material pathway using defined recovered plastic streams. Exact polymer type, source, recycled content and processing route can vary by application.
Recycled yarn pathway
A recycled yarn pathway based on MBRC OCEANPLASTIC material streams for suitable textile applications. Product-specific composition and processing information should be confirmed for the respective application.

Responsible communication
Environmental claims should be specific, understandable and linked to the applicable mechanism. We therefore distinguish between material claims, cleanup support, project commitments and documented outcomes.
It does not by itself describe cleanup impact.
It should not be presented as direct removal unless the underlying outcome supports that claim.
It is not the same as a documented or independently verified outcome.
